This session is designed for high‑street and private client practitioners who regularly draft wills and LPAs, and advise families on capacity, planning and attorney responsibilities. It will focus on practical advisory elements rather than technical Court of Protection issues, helping you identify risks, advise confidently, and protect both your clients and your practice.
What the seminar will cover
Through practical examples, our speakers will explore key considerations when preparing LPAs and giving tailored advice. Topics include:
- How to communicate and demonstrate the value of your LPA service
- Key advice for donors when choosing their attorneys
- What attorneys need to know: gifting, loans, undervalued transactions and who is authorised to make them
- Record‑keeping essentials and responding to information requests from the OPG
- LPAs in practice – letters of wishes vs. preferences and instructions, maintaining clear records, and understanding ongoing practitioner obligations
This seminar is ideal for anyone who prepares LPAs or advises attorneys and deputies.
Please note: This is not a technical course on how to complete or register an LPA. Instead, it provides practical, advisory guidance to enhance and safeguard your LPA work.
This event is being organized in partnership with Bristol Law Society.
