The Law Society Council approves 17% reduction in PC fee for 2014-15

The Law Society’s governing Council has approved a 17% reduction in the individual practising certificate fee for 2014-15. This followed a consultation where hundreds of solicitors shared their views with many asking that all be done to minimise the Law Society Group’s call on the PC fee. The Council overwhelmingly endorsed the plans to reduce the group’s net funding by almost £12m.

The proposal will now be passed to the Legal Services Board for final approval.

Note: The Law Society Group comprises the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Law Society professional body and Corporate Solutions, which provides the shared functions such as HR and IT.
