Merger control, the process of reviewing mergers and acquisitions to ensure they do not harm competition in the market, continues to develop both in the UK and around the world. Join this event to hear directly from the Competition and Markets Authority, a key organisation in the UK’s approach to mergers, about what the latest updates mean for you

Each year the Competition Section welcomes a senior leader from the competition law community to present on recent developments and trends in merger control. This year’s update will be provided by Naomi Burgoyne, Senior Director for Mergers at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Last year Sorcha O’Carroll, Senior Director within the CMA’s mergers team, presented on phase 1 and 2 highlights from 2022-24, the key enforcement trends, and developments in policy and practice. Her presentation slides can be downloaded here.
