The Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS) launched by the Law Society earlier this year is fast approaching the 100-member mark. Launched in response to the Ministry of Justice’s decision not to make will-writing a reserved activity, WIQS-accredited firms are starting to see the benefit of the scheme membership.

With a steady uptake of WIQS, the work being undertaken to promote accredited firms is paying off, with wide coverage in national and regional media driven by both the Law Society and accredited firms themselves. For the first four months of 2014, more than 110 press articles featuring WIQS were published, including stories in the Daily Telegraph, the Manchester Evening News and the South Wales Echo.

As well as those firms that have been accredited, many more are going through the application process – applications should generally take around four to six weeks to process. Graham Murphy, product manager for WIQS, said: “WIQS is proving to be really valuable in order for firms to differentiate themselves, especially in such a crowded market.”
