While AI tools can automate tasks like legal research, document drafting, contract analysis, and e-discovery, they still require careful supervision. To ensure accuracy and ethical compliance, human oversight is still essential
Supervisors must ensure that the relevant staff understand when and how to use AI appropriately, and that outputs are reviewed before being relied upon in legal advice or court submissions. Supervisors must also stay informed about guidance from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and ensure their teams are not inadvertently breaching confidentiality, data protection, professional conduct rules or their PII policy.
The regulatory framework for AI in legal practice is evolving and this session will help provide clarity on what constitutes acceptable use of AI in legal practice. It will also cover ways of managing and supervising responsible use of evolving technologies within the legal sector.
