In June 2018, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) announced the outcome of its consultation ‘Looking to the Future: Better information, more choice’.
The SRA announced that it would make rules to require firms to publish more information on their websites about price, service and regulatory matters, coming into force at the end of the year. Areas of practice covered are residential conveyancing; probate; immigration (except asylum); road traffic offences, employment tribunal claims (unfair / wrongful dismissal); employment tribunal claims (unfair / wrongful dismissal); debt recovery (up to £100,000); and licensing applications for business premises.
The Law Society has developed a briefing for members to provide more detailed information about the announced changes and help you to consider the implications for your practice. We will also be developing a range of resources to help members to adapt to the changes, which will be announced in the future.
By reading this briefing, you’ll get a better understanding of:
- what the changes were
- why they were announced and
- initial points to consider for risk and compliance within your practice.
