The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and the Law Society are delighted to host Justice Edwin Cameron who has been a Judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa since 2009 and who chaired Wits’ governing council between 1998 and 2008. He was and remains the only person occupying high office in Africa to state publicly that he is living with HIV/AIDS. He is renowned for his stance on HIV/AIDS as much as for his eminence as a judge of the highest court.

Amongst his many writings are his two popular books, “Witness to AIDS” and, published this year, “Justice: A Personal Account”. This year is the 20th anniversary of South Africa’s transition to democracy and in this presentation Justice Cameron will be speaking about “South Africa’s Constitutional Democracy at Twenty - Problems and Perils”.
