Background:
Mrs Asma Jahangir is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and former President Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan. She was the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief from August 2004 to July 2010. Previously, she served as the UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Arbitrary and Summary Executions. She is also the former Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
Mrs Jahangir discussed women’s rights and the tension between law and religious freedom.
