One year on from the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA) coming into force, many businesses are still struggling to apply new requirements for how prices are communicated. This online session will help you advise your clients on their new obligations and how the CMA might use enhanced sanctioning powers to deter non-compliance.

The DMCCA has significantly reshaped the consumer protection regime that applies to businesses operating in the UK. A central focus of the act is heightened scrutiny on how pricing, discounts and promotions are communicated to customers. Many businesses are still struggling with how to implement the technical requirements of the act and need legal guidance.

During this one-hour session, Hayley Fletcher (Senior Director of Consumer Protection at the CMA) and Amy McMeekin (Partner at Euclid) will share an overview of the regime’s first year – including new guidance published, practical examples and live investigations.

They’ll also explain the technical requirements of the DMCCA and offer practical tips for businesses - including a reminder of other regulators and sector specific nuances which might apply.

You’ll then hear a discussion on how the CMA is likely to approach compliance and use its enhanced enforcement and sanctioning powers to deter non-compliance. For example, will there by an open-door policy to discuss concerns? And will there be informal engagement before formal enforcement?

This session will build on Emma Cochraine’s keynote on consumer protection at the Law Society Competition Conference and is the perfect way for delegates to dive deeper and consolidate their learning.

Book your place for practical advice you can take to directly to your clients and the chance to explore previously unanswered questions.
