Speakers

Carole Begent

Carole is the General Counsel and a Director of the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR). She manages a team of lawyers and oversees competition and regulatory enforcement work, involving multi-disciplinary teams. Carole has extensive knowledge and expertise in competition, regulatory law, public law in advisory, policy development and litigation contexts. In addition to her General Counsel role she sponsors work relating to enforcement, competition, interchange fee regulation and Brexit.

Richard Eccles

Richard Eccles is a partner in Bird & Bird’s Competition & EU Law Group in London. He has over 30 years experience of EU and UK competition law, including anti-trust, merger control and the EU State aid rules, and competition regulation and EU law.

 

Chris Prevett

chris prevett

Chris Prevett is a Project Director and Legal Director at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Chris has extensive experience advising and leading projects across all of the CMA’s competition tools, including merger and market inquiries, anti-trust and cartel enforcement, and policy matters. He has been a Case Decision Group member and a senior ‘Plus 2’ adviser to decision-makers on cartel enforcement and remedies review cases, and is currently leading the CMA’s competition law investigation into a price comparison website’s price parity clauses in home insurance.

Helen Stokes

Helen trained and practised at Herbert Smith between 2008 and 2015, qualifying in to the competition team there. She moved to Addleshaw Goddard’s competition team between 2015 and 2017 before becoming Head of Legal for Operations at Heathrow Airport in October 2017.
