The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) is undertaking the third year of the resilience and wellbeing survey.

This survey is designed to gather information on the resilience and wellbeing of junior lawyers in England and Wales. In summary, more than 82 per cent of respondents reported either regularly or occasionally feeling stressed in the month before completing the survey, with 26 per cent of those individuals being severely/extremely stressed.

The JLD is running the survey again this year so that it can monitor and compare statistics.

The JLD is concerned about the high levels of stress and the number of individuals experiencing mental ill-health in the profession. In last year’s survey more than 25 per cent of respondents stated that they had experienced mental ill-health in the last month (whether formally diagnosed or not).

In early 2018, the JLD released guidance for employers on best practice to support junior lawyers (and, in fact, all employees) in their organisation. Read the JLD wellbeing guidance

If you are a JLD member, please take this year’s survey which should take no more than five minutes to complete.

The survey will close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 13 March.
