The UN has engaged in carrying out a series of reviews on Turkey’s human rights record. The first Universal Periodic Review was published in 2010 while the second evaluation report was discussed in Geneva in January 2015. The review found that altough the human rights situation has improved in Turkey there are a few issues still to be tackled with regard to freedom of expression, right to privacy and the position of lawyers within the regime.
