On 3 March 2021, the government announced plans to extend the stamp duty land tax (SDLT) holiday, originally due to end on 31 March.

The scheme will now end in September 2021, tapering from the full SDLT holiday on 30 June. This will avoid a cliff-edge end to the SDLT holiday.

The Law Society has welcomed the decision, but we’ve also warned that investment in the justice system must not be forgotten.
