Land Registry has updated its guidance on evidence of identity for conveyancers to clarify details relating to the photograph attached to an identity form.

In certain circumstances, in order to reduce fraud risk, Land Registry requires an application to include confirmation of identity or rule 17 identity evidence. This helps it decide if any checks may be needed before completing a registration.

Practice Guide 67: evidence of identity: conveyancers sets out when confirmation of identity or rule 17 identity evidence is required and how it should be given. It has also been clarified that the photograph being attached to an identity form must be in colour.
