Any LPA made using the old forms that has not been completed, signed and dated by 1 January 2016 will not be accepted for registration by OPG.
On 1 July 2015, Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) introduced new forms for lasting powers of attorney (LPA) for both property and financial affairs, and health and welfare.
Since this date, OPG has been accepting both the old and new versions of the LPA forms. However, this will change in the new year.
If old LPA forms have been completed, signed and dated correctly by 1 January 2016, you can still register them at any time.
If an LPA made using the old forms has not been completed, signed and dated by 1 January 2016, you won’t be able to register it. A new form will have to be completed, signed and dated before you can register it.
The new forms are available to download on the OPG website.
