On 17 July, the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) launched its new ‘use a lasting power of attorney’ (LPA) service.
The online service allows donors and attorneys to share an LPA with third party organisations such as banks, who can quickly check to see whether the LPA is valid.
Currently, the service is only available for LPAs registered from 17 July 2020 onwards. However, the OPG eventually plans to add in LPAs registered earlier in 2020 and in 2019.
OPG also plans to add in a Welsh language service.
It follows the release of the OPG’s ‘Track my LPA’ service in 2019, which allows people making an LPA online to track the progress of their application.
