Are you a junior lawyer looking for a new challenge? Are you interested in issues that affect you and other members of the profession?

Could you represent 70,000 solicitors, apprentices, LPC students and LPC graduates, trainees and junior lawyers from across England and Wales in a national and international forum?

If you answered yes, then you could make a difference to the future of the legal profession by standing for a position on the Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society:

  • executive committee
  • national committee (as a student representative)

There are up to eight positions available.

How to stand

To be eligible to stand, you must fall within the scope of the JLD membership:

  • enrolled solicitor apprentice
  • Legal Practice Course student
  • Legal Practice Course graduate
  • trainee solicitor
  • solicitor up to five years’ qualified

Submit your nomination by Wednesday 16 October 2019 at 12pm using the executive committee form (Word) or the student representative form (Word).

Your nomination should include an election statement of up to 300 words explaining why you should be elected as a JLD committee member. This must be supported by two other junior lawyers.

You should also confirm whether you would be available to attend a JLD committee handover training weekend on 9 to 10 November in Leeds.

Nominations will be considered and voted upon by the JLD national committee, which comprises the current executive committee members and representatives of the local JLD group network.
