The Law Society submitted a shadow report to the UPR of China, highlighting cases of arbitrary and prolonged arrest and detention of lawyers and human rights defenders in the country. 

Since 2013, date of the last UPR of China, the Law Society sent twelve intervention letters to the Chinese authorities, ten of which refer to cases of arbitrary or prolonged arrest and detention of lawyers and human rights defenders. Therefore, the Law Society’s submission refers specifically to these cases and partial or lack of implementation of previous UPR recommendations.
