The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is inviting views on what standards we should expect of solicitors when newly-qualified and subsequently.

The SRA says:

”This is a new approach to identifying the education and training needs of solicitors. Until now the SRA’s regulatory focus has largely been on the process by which education and training is delivered.

”We now propose to start by defining the standards we expect of solicitors on qualification and subsequently. The education and training requirements can then be geared to support the acquisition and retention of these standards.”

The deadline for submission of responses to the consultation is 12 January 2015.
