HM Revenue and Customs has launched a solicitors’ tax campaign – the latest in its series of campaigns encouraging people with undisclosed taxes and duties to voluntarily come forward and put their tax affairs in order. The campaign is open until 9 June 2015, but solicitots must notify their dislosure by 9 March 2015, and then make their disclosure and payment by 9 June. By doing so, solicitors will be able to tell HMRC how much penalty they believe they should pay; will, if the circumstances warrant it, be able to spread their payments; and, if they’ve made a mistake, will only be obliged to pay for a maximum of six years, no matter how many years they are behind with their tax affairs.
