In October 2014, the Law Society conducted a career satisfaction survey with 344 members of its Insights Community – an online panel of members with various legal backgrounds.
The research found that, overall, solicitors find their careers highly rewarding, with the majority of our members feeling that their work contributes to the success of their organisation, and that they are valued in their role.
Some of the key findings are below.
- On the whole, legal professionals find their careers rewarding, taking pride in the work they do.
- Millennial mobility is an emerging risk for employers.
- A lack of engagement with strategic direction is a key driver of employee departure.
- Performance management could be improved in one-third of organisations.
