The Law Society is deeply concerned by reports that Mahdieh Golrou, a well-known defender of women’s rights in Iran, was arrested on 24 October 2014 following her participation on 22 October 2014 in a public protest against acid attacks on young women in Esfahan, Iran.  The Law Society is alarmed by the fact of her continued detention since that time in appalling conditions in Evin Prison.  She was held in solitary confinement for the first forty days of her detention.  She is now detained in a small cell inside ward 2-A along with Atena Daemi.
