The Law Society sent an intervention letter regarding the harassment received by Sandra Ntebi, a prominent LGBTI rights defender in Uganda. Sandra Ntebi was allegedly detained overnight on 4 August 2016 and further threatened because of her participation to a peaceful assembly in Kampala advocating for LGBTI rights. The Law Society respectfully urged the Government of Uganda to take measures to investigate acts of harassment and intimidation against Sandra Ntebi and to ensure a conducive environment for the realisation of all human rights, as well as for the protection of all human rights defenders in Uganda.
