“The Law Society of England & Wales wishes to express to our friends and colleagues in France our grief at the partial destruction by fire of Notre Dame Cathedral. It is a miracle that so much wonderful glass and so many religious treasures were saved. Notre Dame is an iconic symbol not only of the French nation but of our shared history.  It has overseen the development of our two nations to modern democracies with a shared commitment to the rule of law. We share the sadness you must all feel.”

Christina Blacklaws, President of the Law Society of England and Wales
