The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of the Republic of Korea recently opened a public consultation on its draft bill titled ’Foreign Legal Consultants Act’ detailing a range of amendments related to the authorisation of joint ventures between foreign law firms and Korean law firms.

These changes have been developed by the South Korean MoJ as part of a process to implement the third stage of the legal services provisions in the EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) - an agreement created to bring about a positive impact on the promotion of trade and investment between the jurisdictions.

The consultation has now closed. For information on the Law Society response and next steps please contact Donna.Evans@lawsociety.org.uk
