Greece

Officially, the Hellenic Republic is located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa. The modern Greek state was established in 1830 following the war of independence from the Ottoman Empire.

Greece is a democratic and developed country. A founding member of the UN, Greece was the tenth member to join the EU and has been part of the Eurozone since 2001. It is also a member of the Council of Europe, NATO, OECD and the WTO. Greece has one of the world's largest shipping industries, has the largest economy in the Balkans, therefore, it is an important regional investor.

The Greek legal system is based on civil law and has evolved from Roman law.
