The Law Society in partnership with the Ukrainian National Bar Association (UNBA), the British Ukrainian Law Association (BULA), and supported by the British Embassy in Kyiv organised the second English Law Day in Kyiv, Ukraine, on 22 March.
After the very popular first English Law Day Forum in Kyiv in 2017, the event was a chance to further develop legal links and business between both countries, and promote the use of English Law, our members expertise, and strengthen the relationship between practitioners from both jurisdictions.
Over 140 delegates attended the event from the UK, Ukraine as well as neighbouring countries and discussed the recent developments in English Law and the current business environment for doing legal business in the UK and Ukraine.
Four experts panels presented the following topics:
- Private Wealth - latest developments in the UK
- The use of English law on joint ventures and as the governing law for shareholder agreements
- Arbitrating or Litigating in English courts – jurisdictional traps for the unwary
- Recovering assets through bankruptcy and liquidation
