It was Jim O’Neill, then Chief Economist at Goldman Sachs, who coined the term BRIC in 2001 to refer to the four largest emerging markets which were expected to grow faster than the developed countries and play an increasingly important role in the global economy. More than 15 years later is as good a time as any to take stock. While growth has been there – including for legal services -, it has not been without challenges.

The BRICs encompass over 25% of the world’s land coverage, 40% of the world’s population, and hold a combined GDP (PPP) of $20 trillion. They have also shown immense economic potential and could become among the four most dominant economies by the year 2050.

We are organising a seminar with lawyers from Brazil, India, China and Russia who will share their experience of practising in the BRICs and the relevance of English law in transactional matters and England and Wales as an attractive disputes resolution centre.

This is a great chance to find out more on options of operating in these markets and tap their potential for your firm.
