Background to the British Brazilian Exchange Programme
The Brazilian British Lawyers Exchange Programme for young lawyers is jointly organised by the Law Society of England and Wales and the Bar Council in partnership with the Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB) and Lex Anglo-Brasil.
The Programme, now in its third successful year, provides a four week programme in London for Brazilian lawyers, which includes a short bespoke academic programme at BPP Law School, placement in solicitors’ firm and barristers’ chambers and a series of legal seminars.
Jonathan Smithers, president of the Law Society, said: “Brazil is a key market for our members and the success of the ongoing exchange programme highlights the valued and strong relationship we have with the Brazilian Bar. This scheme supports international firms to develop business in Brazil by building constructive relationships with lawyers from some of the country’s leading law firms.”
