Panama is forecast to be one of the fastest growing Latin American economies in 2014. It offers UK investors opportunities in a range of sectors including infrastructure, energy, telecoms, retail and IT.
Panelists at the Law Society’s ‘Exploring new markets… Panama’ event discussed the strength of the market which positions itself as a hub for the Americas.
Speaking at the event, Law Society vice president Jonathan Smithers said ”As this trade and investment between the UK and Panama grows, so does the interaction between the legal communities in both countries.
“Whether it is Panamanian law firms setting up offices here in London, or Panamanian lawyers choosing to dual-qualify as a solicitor of England and Wales via the Qualified Lawyers Transfer scheme, we know that legal links between our countries are going from strength to strength”.
The event was followed by a networking reception sponsored by Morgan & Morgan.
