The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) is to launch a selection exercise for recorders on 1 February 2017, and it is anticipated that this will mark a return to a programme of regular competitions.
This will provide an excellent opportunity for practitioners to join the ranks of the judiciary. The work of a Recorder is important, and it is an extremely interesting and worthwhile role.
The part-time nature of the position means it can be combined with other professional commitments, which makes it particularly appealing to those in the relatively early stages of their professional lives.
We are particularly keen on recruiting Recorders who have an interest in progressing to a full-time judicial career, and this will enable successful candidates to gain insight into, and experience of, the life and work of a judge.
