In October 2016 the SRA published its second consultation on the proposals for a new route to qualification and the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE).
This second consultation sets out more detail about how the SRA is proposing solicitors might qualify in the future – and specifically about the SQE. It states how the SRA has revised and developed their proposals in the light of feedback from the first consultation, and goes on to explain how the SQE would fit with preparatory training, including work-based learning. Through the SQE, the SRA aim to assure high professional standards.
The consultation closed on 9 January 2017 but the full proposals can be viewed here.
