Consultation part 1

In December 2012 the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) published a consultation paper seeking views on their initial proposals to remove, curtail and simplify a number of processes and regulations that do not appear to benefit the public, and to ask where they could make further changes. The consultation closed on 8 February 2013.

Consultation part 2

In April 2013 the SRA published part 2 of its Red Tape Initiative consultation as part of their continued work to simplify regulations and remove unnecessary processes. In this phase the SRA invited comments on their plans to simplify the practising certificate renewal process and reduce the reporting obligations for COLPs and COFAs.
