The winners of the prestigious Horsfall-Turner Essay Prize Competition were announced at the Law Society’s Competition Section formal dinner on 3 December 2015. Congratulations to Jasminder Chaytor, a trainee at Berwin Leighton Paisner, who took first prize and also to the two runners up, Ali Sadek, a trainee solicitor at Freshfields and Laura K. Elliott, a trainee solicitor at Cooley (UK) LLP.

The annual essay competition is designed to encourage young lawyers to develop an interest in European law. It is open to all trainee solicitors and paralegals working at law firms or in-house legal departments in organisations with an office in the UK

This year the Competition Section entrants were asked to write on the subject: ‘Brexit: what would it mean for the UK competition law landscape?’
