The Law Society has provided a statement regarding the election of the JLD solicitor seat on the Law Society Council.

’We have been alerted to an administrative error in voting forms for the Junior Lawyers Division Solicitor constituency in our Council elections. The company that operates our Council election is sending replacement ballot papers out to junior lawyers as a matter of priority. The error was that the hard copy ballot incorrectly asked junior solicitors to vote via a First Past The Post voting system, when it should have instead contained voting instructions for the Single Transferable Vote voting system. No other constituencies are affected by this error. If anyone has already voted in the JLD Solicitor Council constituency these votes will not be counted.  They should cast new ballots either online, or with the replacement ballot papers they will soon receive.’
