To celebrate the Tree Charter 2017 campaign, the Legal Sustainability Alliance (LSA) has joined forces with the Woodland Trust to launch a brand new debating competition for law students and undergraduates.

Each heat will be hosted by a leading law firm and judged by senior partners, with a final at the London office of global law firm Linklaters.

As well as amazing networking opportunities, the competition offers the chance to compete for a cash prize to be awarded at special lunch with the partners from the LSA executive firms – the top 15 international law firms in the UK.

This is your chance to demonstrate your debating skills in front of senior lawyers from the leading international law firms.

To take part all you need to do is put together a team of three students and then prepare a convincing case in response to the question.

‘What role can the practice of law in the 21st century play in achieving sustainability for the common good?’

Heats will be held at the following times and locations:

  • 2 Novemberember Bristol – hosted by Burges Salmon – closing date 31 October
  • 3 November Cambridge – hosted by Eversheds – closing date 31 October
  • 9 November London – hosted by Norton Rose Fulbright – closing date 4 November
  • 10 November Newcastle – hosted by Bond Dickinson – closing date 4 November
  • 16 November Manchester – hosted by Irwin Mitchell – closing date 7 November
  • 23 November Birmingham – hosted by Shakespeare Martineau – closing date 7 November
