The Law Society and Transparency International are organising an event to take place during Geneva Peace Week to discuss how the judicial system and legal profession can tackle corruption and in turn become strong catalysts for building peaceful societies.

The event will endeavour to explore what impact the establishment of a robust and independent judiciary and independent legal profession can have on peacebuilding, which will include comparing and sharing international best practices to prevent violent conflicts.

Speakers will include:

  • Professor Victor Alistar (Romania), Executive Director of Transparency International Romania
  • Dr Leila Alieva (Azerbaijan) IFK Fellow and a Senior Common Room member of St. Antony’s College Oxford
  • Jean-René Oettli, Attorney at Law at Lenz & Staehelin and member of the Geneva Bar Human Commission
  • Alfredo Ortega Chevening Scholar

 Wednesday 7 November, 16:15-17:30
