Hear from our expert panel and meet a Chinese delegation

China is the world’s second economy and plays a vital role in global trade and foreign investment. The UK is the largest major market for Chinese investment in the EU. There are therefore many opportunities for solicitors to do legal business with China. 

In September 2017 we are hosting a delegation of 15 Chinese lawyers that are scoping opportunities in the UK (see About the delegation below). As part of their programme, we are arranging a panel discussion to introduce them to our members.

Doing Legal Business between the UK and China

The Doing Legal Business between the UK and China panel discussion will be held from 17.00-18.30 on Tuesday 5 September 2017 at the Law Society. Five lawyers from English and Chinese law firms will present from experience. Our confirmed panel speakers are:

  1. Want to develop their business in Chinese second tier cities (i.e. not the traditional markets of Beijing or Shanghai)
  2. Have Chinese business interests that match the delegation’s expertise (see About the delegation below)
  3. Want to learn about doing business in/with China generally

About the delegation

The lawyers come from firms of various sizes - one firm has ten lawyers whereas another has over 1,300. Most partners and managing partners who are based outside Beijing or Shanghai. These lawyers work in markets where there are few or no UK firms.

The delegation have experience in M&A and corporate restructuring, cross-border investment, international dispute resolution, construction and real estate, intellectual property rights and criminal defence.
