Join this webinar to gain a practical insight into how privilege works with the in-house lawyer and how this gives rise to challenges when dealing with, for example, investigations undertaken by the European Commission.

All in-house lawyers will benefit from a recap on the basics of privilege together with an in-depth look at issues surrounding privilege and the in-house lawyer both from an English law and European law perspective.

The session will cover:

  • Brief recap on privilege generally
  • The position of in-house lawyers under English law
  • The position of in-house lawyers under European law
  • Practical issues arising for in-house lawyers and privilege
  • Responsibility for the legal function under the Senior Managers Regime - a threat to LPP?

UK solicitors operate differently from their counterparts in Europe - it is important that European law-makers understand this critical distinction and that UK in-house lawyers maintain their independent status as external advisers

Who should participate

All in-house lawyers working in the corporate sector, public sector, not-for-profit organisations and charities

Speakers

Colin Passmore, senior partner, Simmons & Simmons
