Arrests and shooting of the Tanganyika Law Society President

On 20th September 2017, the Law Society sent an intervention letter to the President of Tanzania on the case of the arrest and shooting of the Tanganyika Law Society President.

The letter was signed also by the Chair of the Bar Council and the Chair of the Bar Human Rights Committee. The letter rehiterates the utmost importance of the independence of Bar associations, since this is an essential element to guarantee the effective functioning of the rule of law.
