Digitalisation is increasing across family justice systems around the world.
The challenge for family lawyers is not to automate current inefficient working practices, court procedures or even laws. They need to innovate working practices and justice systems in ways which were previously impossible.
For digital technology in family law to work, everyone involved in the family justice system must play their part. This movement has the support of the judiciary, leaders of the bar, and law societies. Collaborative work is vital to speed up the adoption of new technology.
Digital technology will not change the aims and intentions of family lawyers. What will change is the way family lawyers work and as a result, the expectations of their clients will also change. Throughout all the inevitable changes, the family lawyer will remain committed to working for families and children.
