Webinar: An introduction to arbitration and adjudication (13 March)

This webinar will explain how arbitration and adjudication differ from litigation and identify some of the advantages in adopting these methods as opposed to choosing litigation.

This webinar is inclusive to Civil Litigation Section members, and broadcasts on Wednesday 13 March (12.30 to 1.30pm).

A litigatior must consider dispute resolution before issuing proceedings to limit the amount of costs and adhere to potential contractual clauses.

The most commonly-adopted forms of alternative dispute resolution are arbitration and adjudication. Although these procedures are similar, they should not be confused.

This webinar will cover:

  • identifying the best dispute resolution method
  • choosing your arbitrator or adjudicator
  • procedures and timescales
  • cost
  • enforcement of awards and decisions

Speaker

John Wright, speaker, ArbDB Chambers  

John practised as a solicitor in private practice until 2016, focusing largely on construction and engineering law. His expertise has been recognised for many years by Legal Directories. He is listed as one of the world’s leading construction lawyers and one of the world’s leading mediators in the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers (2019 Editions).

He now sits exclusively as an Arbitrator, Adjudicator, Mediator, and Dispute Board member, frequently in construction industry disputes but also in the energy, insurance and real estate fields.

John is a past chair of the Board of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and past co-chair of the International Construction Projects section of the International Bar Association.
