Advocacy Section

Youth Justice Advocacy Training - November 2017 and April 2018

The Law Society has partnered with highly respected youth justice charity, Just for Kids Law to offer members specialist training in youth justice advocacy.  

This one-day interactive course delivered by the Youth Justice Legal Centre is essential for anyone intending to represent children at the police station or at court. The next training sessions will take place in November 2017 and April 2018 (dates to be TBC).

Advocacy Section renewals

The Advocacy Section will provide you with support, advice, networking opportunities and enable the sharing of best practice with peers.

The current Section Engagement Programme has been created in consultation with the Section Advisory Committee, and will focus on key issues including:

  • MOJ consultation on criminal advocacy reforms
  • Practical guidance on how to prepare for the unexpected
  • Vulnerable witnesses training
  • QASA developments
  • Dos and Don’ts in the court room
  • Better case management

These issues will be addressed through a range of activities including: Seminars, Webinars, Practical Training Videos, Discounts off Law Society publications and webinars, E-newsletters, Features, Commentary, News and a LinkedIn Group.
